Fab friendly hosts .. Cathy the owner is lovely. Excellent value for money. Comfy bed and clean crisp bedding. Decor a little tired but it's a work in progress and it was clean, so no complaints whatsoever. Next time we're in Devon we will definitely book again.
Has a fantastic time with Cathy and all her staff they couldn't do enough for us. The new chef James made us a beautiful dinner for our anniversary see photos. We felt like it was home from home and we will definitely return.
We had a fantastic time, was made to feel welcome by Cathy and her team and even the workmen renovating the property. The location was very convenient for the town, train station and beach front. We would happily stay there again.
Had a lovely valentine's weekend away. The hosts were fantastic. On arrival we were given an upgrade to the best room which had a sea view. The super king size bed was firm and comfy so much so we almost missed check out thank you for a lovely quiet weekend
What a lovely week spent At The Great Western. Room was lovely. On arrival we was met by Nadine who is one of the nicest people you could wish to meet. She started off by showing us our room . Then she was telling us the chef had decided to go on holiday & Kathy the owner was also away till Wednesday. But Nadine did a fantastic job on her own . She cooked us breakfast on 2 days & Kathy was then back . Kathy is a lovely lady very very friendly . We could not have wished for a more friendly & relaxed place to stay . All being well we will be back for another stay next year Only downside was the Bar wasn't open Thankyou Kathy & Nadine
Just returned from a week at this beautiful place. Kathy and the team where outstanding hosts the location is superb only a minute from Paignton beach. A very chilled out atmosphere all round. Loved every minute of our stay. Looking forward to returning next year. (Andy and Donna Room 6 )
The hotel is in an ideal position, being about 150 yards from the seafront, but in a quiet area. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Everything we needed was there. Breakfast was ok, continental unless you wanted something cooked, which we did, and the scrambled egg was very nice. While the hotel is "tired" and in need of updating, that couldn't be said about the manager, Elaine. What a delightful, friendly and helpful lady she is. Nothing was too much trouble. She even got down on her hands and knees to cut off a loose piece of sump guard on my car, as I couldn't manage it!! She's a real pocket rocket. I understand that the owner is recovering from a health problem. I can assure her that the hotel is in very capable hands with Elaine in charge.
Cathy is very friendly and kind. I always stay there with my family and every time we are very well received. The rooms are cosy and quiet. The whole hotel is clean and has a beautiful decoration. The included breakfast is fantastic.
